About Dr. David Joey Chang

Dr. Chang grew up in Australia and came to Boston in 1998 to continue his education. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering from Boston University and his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine.

He then completed his advanced training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery through Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and Tufts Medical Center. His background in biomedical engineering and surgical dentistry supports a thoughtful, detail-oriented approach to diagnosis, treatment planning, and oral surgery care.

Education & Surgical Training

Dr. Chang’s education and training include a strong foundation in science, dentistry, and hospital-based oral and maxillofacial surgery. He completed his undergraduate studies in Biomedical Engineering at Boston University before earning his DMD from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine.

His advanced surgical training through Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and Tufts Medical Center prepared him to evaluate and treat a broad range of oral and maxillofacial conditions. This includes both common procedures, such as wisdom tooth removal and dental implants, as well as more complex surgical needs involving trauma, jaw surgery, and reconstruction.

Academic & Hospital Appointments

In addition to private practice, Dr. Chang has held academic leadership roles at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, including serving as Director of the Pre-Doctoral Program in Oral Surgery. He has also served as an attending surgeon at Tufts Medical Center.

Dr. Chang has lectured dental students, residents, and doctors through continuing education programs both nationally and internationally. His academic and hospital background reflects his commitment to clinical education, evidence-based treatment, and high standards of surgical care.
